In 1993 roots of sweet water plants were found by the russian vessel 'Aquanaut' on the bottom of the black sea. They may be proof for the hypothesis, that the black sea was a lake which was flooded appr. 7500 years ago by a major break in the bosphorus channel connecting it to the Mediterranean.
