Apnea Dive Computer
Apnea Dive ComputerThe current edition - March 2010 Vol.40 (1) - of the "Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine" journal has a report about the first Apnea Divecomputer. The article is named "A novel wearable apnea dive computer for continuous plethysmographic monitoring of oxygen saturation and heart rate". Here is the abstract:
The present paper describes the development of a novel wearable apnea dive computer. The device is able to measure and display oxygen saturation, heart rate, plethysmogram, depth, time and temperature during breath-holding dives. Beside the measurements, quasi in parallel, every data is stored in an external memory chip. A data processing software reads out the external memory chip and writes the processed data into a comma-separated values (CSV) file, so that it can be analysed by arbitrary applications like Microsoft Excel or Open Office. The housing is waterproof and pressure resistant to more than 20bar (breath-hold divers have already passed the 200m mark). It is small, lightweight, power aware and easy to use.
